Departmental History

Community Health Nursing Department is one of the Departments of University of Nursing, Mandalay, which was established on28^th, November, 1998.  Daw Rosalinus and Daw Aye Paing were appointed as tutors on 21^th, September, 1998. Daw Khin Hlaing Aye was appointed as Assistant Lecturer on 18^th, February, 1999.Later,Daw Lin Lin Khine was appointed as Lecturer and Head of the Department on 17^th October, 2002. Then she got promotion as Professor and Head on 25^th January, 2007 and, retired on 10^th September, 2013. After that Professor Dr. Myint Myint Nwe was responsible as Head of the Department on 17th June, 2013 to 12^th March, 2020. Then she was promoted as Pro-rector (administration) to University of Nursing (Ygn) on 12^th March, 2020. At present, Pro-Rector (Academic) Professor Dr.Nyi Nyi Htay has been taking overall responsibility for the teaching and administrative affairs of the department since 13^thMarch, 2020.  There are (24) academic faculties in this Department, however some vacancy of academicfacultiesat present. Most of the teachers are M.N.Sc holders. Until 2003 only B.N.Sc degree course was given. M.N.Sc degree course could be started at 2004. After 10 year duration of general M.N.Sc course, M.N.Sc specialty in Community Health Nursing course has been initiated.

Departmental Objectives

To produce qualified community health nurses who would be able :

• To nurture the students with the relevant evidenced based knowledge, attitude and skills for effectively utilization in comprehensive health care services in the community
• To provide opportunities to the students for the development of competencies and skills required for providing comprehensive health care services to the population
• To produce qualified community health nurses commitment to standards of Myanmar Nurse and Midwife Council and International Council of Nurses
• To undertake the continuing development of the community health nursing education, research and practice
