Duties of the Academic Body 

 1. To co-ordinate and collaborate with the various Boards of Studies and steer

    the courses appropriate to the current socio-economic and health system of

    the country.

 2. To review and revise the curricula put up by the various Boards of Studies, 

     approve, and forward it to the Universities’ Senate.

 3.To supervise teaching in accordance with the approved curricula.

 4.To hold examinations and publish the results.

 5.To confer degrees and award prizes.

 6.To recommend the creation of new departments.

 7.To scrutinize and prescribe textbooks to be used at the University.

 8.To introduce postgraduate courses in collaboration with the teaching 

    departments.

Objectives of Medical Education Unit

 1.Training of teachers on teaching-learning methodology through workshops.

 2.Development and dissemination of educational knowledge and technology.

 3.Review of nursing curriculum and identifying problem areas in nursing 

    education.

 4.Evaluation of ongoing educational programmes of the University.

 5.To conduct educational talks and educational research.

 

Functions of Medical Education Unit

Personnel development (training program for teaching staff, production of teaching/learning materials, orientation to research, exchange of expertise).

1.     Review and development of curriculum if necessary.

2.     Evaluation of existing curriculum.

3.     Consultation to the departments under the University as necessary.

4.     Development of learning materials and assessment tools as necessary.

5.     Documentation of regular and special activities of the University.
